Football - Sheff Wed 2-2 Crystal Palace

Thank goodness for that!

Of course, with Palace it was bound to go to the last few minutes of the last game, but we escaped the drop, despite the 10 point deduction. kb98  and I watched the West Brom game in the Tavern Bar in Sharm El Sheikh last Monday - neither of us were surprised that we didn't manage to beat the Baggies and thus avoid a "Survival Sunday" showdown at Hillsborough. It's been a nightmare season but the fans have been excellent and haven't stopped singing.

Congratulations to Paul Hart, Dougie Freedman and John Pemberton for keeping us in the toughest league in football. Let's hope the CPFC 2010 consortium can get the deal for the club (including Selhurst Park) sorted quickly so we can look forward to another season in the Championship and keep hold of key players like Ambrose, Danns and Speroni!

It was a close run thing. Palace didn't make things easy for themselves with a very nervy second half display. I wonder if you have any nails left at all.

Hopefully you'll be playing Millwall next season.

I didn't see the game - we had just got back from holiday so I was following on the internet. Not sure if that made it better or worse!

I hope Millwall get promoted - or Charlton - it's not been the same without any proper local derbies this season!

It would have been tough on Paul Hart to have managed two relegated sides in the same season! I must admit I had a bad feeling about things after the West Brom game but I'm pleased it's come out well. Wayne may feel differently, of course...

Also pleased to see our local boys at Orient stay in League One yesterday (technically they're not safe but I don't think Tranmere will be winning their last game 20-0). All we need now is for Leeds to mess up next week and then fluff the playoffs, and everything will be just perfect. :)

I feel bad for Wednesday - would much rather Watford had gone down - but rather them than us! I'm not sure Paul Hart is the right man for Palace in the long term but he's done a great job in keeping us up and that's what matters now.

Hopefully Millwall can get the second automatic promotion spot and Charlton Pathetic will come up via the playoffs. Although, we never seem to do that well against either of these teams....

Re: and let's not forget
I hope Fulham go on and win the Europa Cup now. I'm glad Liverpool are out - it seems ridiculous that a team that does badly in the Champions League gets parachuted into a totally different cup competition.
