Art from Rokugan

There's a new edition (4th) of Legend of the Five Rings coming soon which is being previewed at ENWorld. I had fun playing in ninthcouncil 's L5R game about 10 years ago, and used elements from d20 Legend of the Five Rings, including the Shadowlands Taint, monsters and the Rokugan setting in the Freeport Campaign.

Here's some great art from the forthcoming edition:

I think some of the art has been previously used in the CCG - the Crane lady top right looks very familiar.

The problem with 2nd and 3rd edition was that they had to accomodate the escalating stupidity of the CCG story line, and the background became a total mess. Also, they screwed up the mechanics in 2nd by swapping the Skill/Ability functions in Roll and Keep, which made 1st level skills entirely useless.

I don't know about the mechanics, but I understand they're trying to make 4th ed a bit more generic, so you can get away from the CCG madness. If this is so, it's a good move.

I think it was 2001 - we were in the basement of the Green Man when we played it. I still have some maps you did for the campaign saved on my computer dated Jan 2001!
