The Town That Never Was: Los Alamos

We hadn't originally planned to visit Los Alamos but we couldn't really miss out on visiting the town where the atomic bomb was developed in secrecy during the Second World War when we were passing so close. The Bradbury Science Museum was pretty gung-ho in its presentation of the story: Oppenheimer and his associates invented the bombs that ended the war - the destruction caused to Nagasaki and Hiroshima isn't really covered in great detail and the alternative viewpoint (that Japan would soon have surrendered anyway) is barely acknowledged.

The second picture is replicas of Fat Man and Little Boy; the first one is a great view, typical of the Land of Enchantment.
