My Lulu-printed copy of Wolfgang Baur's Empire of the Ghouls turned up about a week ago and I finished reading it over the weekend. It's an Underdark campaign adventure full of Lovecraftian ghouls (doh!) and interesting encounters with aboleths, cloakers, derro and cave dragons. Given that the subtitle of the module is "A Cannibal Adventure", it shouldn't be a surprise that there are some suitably macabre and gory scenes. Since it's for 9th-12th level characters, I'm thinking of running it for the Red Hand of Doom PCs (assuming they survive to the end of that campaign!)
Even more ghoulish than Empire, is The Hook Mountain Massacre, the adventure featured in Pathfinder #3. I haven't finished reading this yet, but I have read the first part of the scenario, featuring a rundown farm full of inbred mutant ogres, straight out of a fantasy version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I have to find the time to run the Rise of the Runelords adventure path - the first episode, Burnt Offerings, was OK, but the second and third chapters are just so cool.
