Very funny, but a bit harsh on Spelljammer and the giff which, although silly, I always had a soft spot for. Totally agree about the wolf-in-sheep's clothing though!

Shake It, Lolth!
"Lolth has got some major booty!"

Has anyone ever seen Lolth and J-Lo in the same room together? I thought not...

Ah memories
There were some pretty awful monsters in the early monster manuals and original Fiend Folio, and the art work was dreadful. But they do bring back some fun memories.

Re: Ah memories
I'd forgotten just how bad the artwork was in those early books. How the hell did D&D ever become successful with that Monster Manual cover (although, as I remember the softback cover fell off fairly quickly so you weren't bothered by it for long)?

Also, would it be too much to expect a degree of rationality in the evolutionary process in D&D monsters? The Gas Spore - how would anything evolve that relies for its reproduction by being attacked when it disguises itself as one of the most feared monsters out there? Diguise yourself as a kobold - every adventurer will happily take a swing at you. People run away from Beholders!

Mind you, I'm happy to be reminded about the Wolf In Sheep's Clothing. That was genius.
