Sad All Over

It's never easy being a Palace fan. You would have thought after last season - going into administration, nearly disappearing from existence and only avoiding relegation to League 1 on the last day of the season - this one would be better. We had a new manager with a proven track record in George Burley and new owners in CPFC2010. At half time in the first game against Leicester we were 3-0 up, having played some sublime attacking football. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there!

We conceded two goals to Leicester in the second half and had to hang on to our slender lead for the rest of the game. At least we managed it - in subsequent games we would concede late on to throw away victory having gone ahead. In the case of Bristol City away, this was a penalty in the 95th minute; at Leeds we conceded two in two minutes to turn victory into defeat.

On New Year's Day we lost 3-0 away to local rivals Milllwall and George Burley was sacked, leaving us 23rd in the league, 3 points from safety and with the worst goal difference in the division (-19). Today we play the only team in the Championship worse than us - Preston - at Selhurst. Like us, they don't have a manager either, having sacked Ferguson Jr last week. This is the must-win six-pointer to end all must-win six-pointers (until the next one!). Fingers crossed......

Fingers crosses also that CPFC2010 pick the right manager and that he spends wisely in the transfer window. We need a decent striker and some reliable defenders so we can both score and stop conceding goals. Simples.

Perhaps you could swap managers with Preston. At least that might bring in some cheap loanees from the Red Scum, seeing as the Ferg (sr) has thrown the toys out of the pram and recalled them from Preston after they sacked his wee bairn....

I'd missed Burley's sacking. He didn't last long, did he? Just results or more to it?

Ferguson went last week - Unsworth in charge! We managed to win today 1-0 thank goodness but very nerve-wracking!

Sir Steve Coppell was seen at the ground today as was Chris Hughton so of course there are rumours that Coppell will be Director of Football with Hughton as First Team Coach. The Palace soap opera continues.....

Burley went because of results. Just wasn't working out.
