Clash of the Titans!

A few weeks ago, I went with g0gmag0g  to see the 3D remake of Clash of the Titans. Despite Ralph Fiennes and some very exciting CGI battle scenes, it didn’t live up to our expectations and the 3D (added afterwards) was all very pointless. Having said that, the monsters were very cool especially the medusa - she was great in the original too - and the scenes in her lair were pure D&D. Bruce Cordell was obviously inspired by this too because there’s a new article on D&D Insider with stats for some of the mythological monsters from the film.

Here’s the very nasty medusa:

Ranged 20/40; +22 vs. AC; 2d10 + 5 damage, and the
target takes a -2 penalty to its Fortitude defense and is
slowed (save ends both).

M Snakes Eyes
(standard; at-will)
The medusa makes two snaky hair attacks.

R Swift Quiver (standard; at-will)
The medusa makes two longbow attacks.

C Petrifying Gaze (standard; at-will) F Psychic
Close blast 5; targets enemies; +20 vs. Fortitude; 2d6 + 3
psychic damage, and the target is slowed (save ends). First
Failed Saving throw: The target is immobilized instead of
slowed (save ends). Second Failed Saving Throw: The target
is petrified (no save).

C Terrifying Hiss (minor, recharge 5 6) F Fear, Psychic
Close blast 5; targets enemies; +20 vs. Fortitude; 2d8 +
5 psychic damage, and the target takes a –2 penalty to
defenses until the end of the medusa’s next turn.

M Gorgon’s Tail (immediate reaction; when the medusa takes
damage from an adjacent creature; at-will)
Reach 2; +22 vs. AC; 2d10 + 5 damage, and the medusa
pushes the target 5 squares.

C Vengeful Gaze (immediate reaction; when the medusa is
first bloodied; encounter)
The medusa uses petrifying gaze.
